Latin American Women in Computing


The Latin-American Woman in Computing Congress LAWCC is since the 2009 an important event from the CLEI (Latin-American Conference of Informatics), which is promoted every year by the Latin American Informatics Studies Center. Its very objective is promoting and encouraging the active women participation in the different areas of the computing. Through the presentation of reports it is hoped to identify the challenges from the women in the areas of Informatics and Communication Technologies (TICs) in the teaching, job market and in the research. It will be pursed ways of approaching the problems related to the gender and its interaction with the society in this context.

LAWCC 2010 will be part of the 36th CLEI 2010 version, which will go trough on October 18-22 of 2010 in Asunción, Paraguay

The 2010 LAWCC invites to present papers that report research results or original experiences in the subject matters below:

  • Parity of gender and TICs.
  • Individualities of the gender in the teaching of the TICs.
  • Research of the women activities in the TICs.
  • Computer-Human Gender and Interaction.
  • Feminism Leadership Models in Informatics
  • Internet social networks and the woman role.
  • Participation of the women in the take of decisions related to the use of TICs, at national and international levels.
  • Public Politics around the Women and TICs.
  • Personal experiences about women and TICs.
